Tips for getting the most out of a Chief membership

As a Guide, you are integral to your Core members’ experience at Chief. While your main responsibility is to ensure that all members have an exceptional Core experience, you also have a unique opportunity to encourage members to explore opportunities outside of Core.

Please note, you are not responsible for the member’s entire experience at Chief - we have a wonderful Concierge team who is focused on that! We do ask that you use your understanding of the member and Chief services to point members in the right direction by suggesting events, groups, networking opportunities, or other opportunities within Chief that might enhance the member experience.

We’re providing some of the top ways that members can dig deeper into their Chief experience as well as tips and suggestions that you can include within your regular practice.

As always, if you have a Core member with a unique need or who is struggling to realize the value of their Chief membership, please encourage the member to reach out to concierge@chief.com or you can reach out to the Guides team if you’d like suggestions or guidance on next steps by emailing guides@chief.com

General recommendations for all members

Chief’s research team found that, in general, members who are engaged in Core (meaning they regularly attend and find value in their Core experience) AND are engaged in at least one other Chief offering (e.g., identity groups, attending events, visiting a Clubhouse, etc.) find more value in their overall Chief experience. Here is a list highlighting many of the ways members can be involved with Chief as well as some tips for Guides:

  • Need to know:

    • Clubhouses are located in the following cities: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

    • Chief+ members pay an additional cost to have access to Clubhouses

    • Chief+ members can bring up to 3 guests each visit to the Clubhouse

    • Each Clubhouse hosts weekly happy hours on Thursdays from 5:00 PM–7:00 PM local time

    • Members can book a meeting room for their next offsite or board meeting (for a fee)

    • More information on Clubhouses can be found here.

    Tips for Guides:

    • Guides have access to the Clubhouses and can bring up to 3 guests (meaning, you can invite members who are not yet Chief+ members!)

    • Plan an informal meet-up with your Core groups so they can meet and mingle – this is a great way to introduce members from different Core groups.

    • Connect members who are in the same city for work or travel and encourage them to meet up in the Clubhouse (or for dinner, coffee, etc.)

  • Need to know:

    • Groups are virtual communities on Chief.com where members can be in community with other members around a shared interest, identity, profession, and more.

    • Groups fall into one of the following categories: Industry and Role, Professional Interests, Personal Interests, Location, and Identity.

    • View the full list of groups here, and select the “all groups” tab in the upper left corner.

    Tip for Guides:

    • As a Guide, you have a front row seat to members’ goals, areas of growth, and interests. Take a moment before or after each Core meeting to scan through the groups and see if there are any that might interest a Core group member of yours.

  • Need to know:

    • Chief team members are there to help members get the most out of their local community. In Clubhouse cities, this is usually owned by one of the Clubhouse staff. In major metro areas that do not have Clubhouses, but have a large number of Chief members (Atlanta, Boston, and Miami), there is a dedicated community manager. In smaller metro areas (such as Phoenix, Austin, Denver, and more) Chief has regional community managers.

    Tip for Guides:

    • If a member wants to get more involved but doesn’t know how, the Concierge team (at concierge@chief.com) is a great starting point. This dedicated team can help the member connect with their local Community Manager or Clubhouse team to learn more about what’s going on locally in their area.

  • Need to know:

    • Chief’s Professional Chapters and Roundtable event series takes place monthly in all major Clubhouse cities and metros (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.) as well as virtually.

    • Members can attend events hosted by other members or host their own events.

    • You can view all upcoming (and previously attended) events here.

    Tips for Guides:

    • Use the Wrap Slides as a starting point for this - each slide deck includes a “What’s Happening at Chief” slide that highlights upcoming events and other engagements that many members will be interested in.

    • Share the links from the Wrap Slides directly in the Zoom chat during the Core meeting and/or in the post-meeting recap.

    • Before or after each Core meeting, briefly browse the upcoming events and share any that you think your members might be interested in.

    • Use the drop-down menu on the right side of the events page to view events in different cities. Additionally, you can quickly catch up on Chief announcements and explore our spotlight section here for the latest highlights and updates.

    • Hold space during Core meetings to talk about what event members recently attended and what they took away from it. Have members share what they are planning on attending in the next month, and if it feels right, encourage them to have an accountability partner or go to the events together.

  • Need to know:

    • The Job Board is available to members who are looking for talent or want to view roles posted by other Chief members.

    Tip for Guides:

    • Share this resource with your members. If someone shares they are looking for a new role, briefly scroll through the Job Board and share any posts with that member that you think they might be interested in.

  • Need to know:

    • Networking at Chief can be daunting for some members who don’t know where to start. Encourage members to utilize events, groups, and Clubhouses as a starting point. The weekly happy hours at the Clubhouse are a fun and easy way to meet other Chief members.

    • Members can use the members tab on Chief.com to connect with other members and save their profiles for easy reference.

    • While most Chief spaces adhere to a strict no soliciting policy, there is one dedicated space where members can promote services and view what other members are also promoting – Marketplace.

    Tips for Guides:

    • We encourage you to connect members who might have similar interests or could help each other in some way. It’s always important to gain consent first, so check with each member individually to gauge their interest, then send an intro message and let members take it from there.

    • If you’re going to be in the Clubhouse, let your members know! This is a great way to introduce members from different Core groups and give them a chance to connect IRL.
