Definition of Excellence

CONTEXT

Guides are an essential part of the Chief member experience and providing a consistently high standard of practice is an integral part of the Guide’s role. In order to support Guides in delivering a high quality experience, we are sharing the Chief Guides Definition of Excellence.

PURPOSE

The purpose of sharing this framework is to:

  1. Share Chief’s point of view on good Core group facilitation.

  2. Share Chief’s point of view on the qualities and competencies that Guides should embody as a part of their work with Core groups and as a member of the Chief community.

  3. Provide clear descriptions for each component of excellent Core facilitation to increase clarity of understanding.

ROLLOUT PLAN

The Definition of Excellence will be rolled out to Guides and to members and incorporated as the foundation for our ongoing work together. The rollout will follow this timeline:

  1. May 2024 - We introduced the Definition of Excellence via email and will review it during the May All-Guides call where we will provide an overview of each domain and category. As a next step, Guides should familiarize themselves with the categories and descriptions and begin to self-assess where they fall within each category.

  2. May/June 2024 - In the Biannual Guide Engagement Survey (send date: May 22, 2024), Guides will be asked to identify areas of opportunity for deeper learning among the Guide community and inform upcoming professional programming and support.

  3. Summer 2024 - Member socialization: Chief’s Guide Success team will conduct training sessions for internal Chief teams on the Definition of Excellence to inform how they discuss our facilitation expectations in conversations with members. We will subsequently roll out a member-facing resource to spread awareness of our standard of excellence for Guides / Core facilitation.

  4. Fall 2024 - In partnership with Chief’s research and product teams, Guide Success will build actionable feedback mechanisms and revamp and launch feedback collection to better action on Core member sentiment.
